Famous Goes Global

Famous Goes Global

With global personality, Colin Mathura-Jeffree as the official brand ambassador for Famous Vodka, it seems global domination is the natural progression for a company that started out with humble beginnings.

Touted as ‘the new face of Kiwi vodka’, the origins of Famous began in an inner city Auckland apartment where co-founder Simon Bruce distilled the first batches of Famous’ signature marshmallow liquor as a neat party trick for his friends. In 2012, Simon and co-founder Justin Bennett launched Famous Vodka to the public, and now stock their vodka in over 200 outlets across New Zealand.

The award-winning brand currently boasts two premium liquors, as well as their signature Pure Vodka, which was recently awarded a silver medal at the 2014 World Spirits Competition in San Francisco. Now with a dedicated local following, Famous is setting its sights further afield, having just signed an exclusive one-year deal with an Asian distribution company that will see Famous stocked throughout Malaysia, Macau and Singapore.

“We are excited about this, it’s a great way to test the Asian market before embarking on a wider China market strategy. Our products have been well received and we expect to be shipping out Famous in September,” says Simon Bruce.

Later in the month Famous will be the first NZ company to utilize the newest crowd funding platform ‘Liftoff’.

Managing Director Adam Hunt says Liftoff takes a unique approach to providing equity crowd funding services. “Crowd funding is about making capital more accessible to every person with a great idea, but it’s not just about the money - diverse skills are needed to get a business investment ready, we are excited to be launching with such an innovative Kiwi company as Famous.

“We are looking at expanding further across New Zealand and other international markets that are displaying interest in our brand. Crowd funding will help us gear up for international growth, these are very exciting times for Famous.” Simon Bruce – Managing Director Famous Vodka.
