Spring clean stocktake at home

Spring clean stocktake at home

Have you got a spring in your step yet? With the official start of the new season tomorrow AMI Insurance is encouraging people to use the opportunity to take stock of their belongings and do a few simple chores around the home.

Spring cleaning is an annual tradition where many of us clean and organise the home both inside and out.

“Some simple outside chores such as raking away the debris of winter, clearing gutters and drains and removing any piles of rubbish or recycling material from around the home can help prevent damage if there are any storms,” said AMI Insurance spokesperson Kevin Hughes.

“Wet leaves and moss and mould can make paths, steps and driveways treacherous so it’s a good time to deal to these things too so that you stay safe and are able to enjoy to the spring blossoms from an upright position.”

Mr. Hughes also encourages households to make an insurance check part their spring cleaning routine.

“We all accumulate new things through the year, but often forget to check that our contents insurance has kept up with what we own. You might have purchased heating equipment through what has been a particularly cold winter in many parts of the country, and items such as new jewellery, mobile phones, laptops and gaming equipment can really add up. ”

“Households too often lose sight of the collective value of assets. Insurance is there to help protect people from loses but individuals need to keep their insurance up to date. Our advice is to use spring cleaning time as time to also do a stocktake,” said Mr. Hughes.
