Wilfred Wong joins the judging team for wine show

‘Wilfred Wong joins the judging team for the fifth annual Marlborough Wine Show’

Entries for the 2015 Marlborough Wine Show close this Friday 18 September and judging takes place on 6 and 7 October.

Guest international judges are Ralph Kyte-Powell of Melbourne and San Francisco-based Wilfred Wong, sponsored by Wine Marlborough. Wilfred is Chief Storyteller for Wine.com and is a 40+ year veteran of the wine industry. In his role at Wine.com, Wilfred concentrates his efforts on social media. He is an extreme researcher and a taster of wines and also employs his photography skills in his role. As a wine judge, Wilfred has participated in many wine competitions in the both the USA and overseas.

For the past fifteen years, Ralph Kyte-Powell has written reviews and articles for The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald as well as co-editing Penguin's "Good Australian Wine Guide" for eight vintages. Ralph is a regular in New Zealand as a wine judge and as a contributor to Cuisine Magazine.

The 2015 Marlborough Wine Show will continue to review and assess entries using three panels of experienced judges and reward top-performing wines with trophies, gold, silver and bronze medals. In addition, the Marlborough Museum Legacy Award will acknowledge consistency as well as outstanding quality and will be awarded to the wine producer with the highest scores for three vintages within a ten year period. This can be for any wine style.

The Marlborough Wine Show was launched in 2011 to demonstrate the significant sub-regional and style diversity of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc as well as endorse the region’s other grape varieties and respective wine styles.

Results will be released shortly after judging with trophies to be announced at a special celebration dinner on October 22.
