Zonta New Zealand today announced that nominations are now open for the Zonta New Zealand 50 Women of Achievement and Zonta New Zealand 50 Young Women of Potential Awards.

This year, Zonta will be celebrating 50 years in this country. Women have been working together to empower the lives of women and girls in New Zealand and globally, and we, Zonta, want to recognise the achievements of these women in our communities in this special 50th anniversary year.

Dr Janette Irvine, Governor of Zonta New Zealand, says “These Awards are a fantastic opportunity for the New Zealand community to get behind the inspirational women in our lives and nominate them for an award.”

“I was delighted to hear from talented young students at the 2015 Zonta Young Women in Public Affairs Awards about the importance of having good role models in their lives and how inspirational women have influenced and supported them,” Dr Irvine said.

Awards will be presented in two categories:

The Zonta New Zealand 50 Women of Achievement – women who have over and above her career, contributed to empowering girls and women in New Zealand and/or globally.
