Celebrate Sauvignon Season with Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc

Celebrate Sauvignon Season with Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2015

Cloudy Bay have launched their 2015 vintage on the 30th anniversary year of the famous vineyard

In 1985, Cloudy Bay captivated the wine world with its aromatic and vibrant Sauvignon Blanc. Thirty years on, they are launching their flagship wine’s 30th vintage, Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2015, available from October 1st.

The 30th anniversary of this iconic kiwi vineyard is an exciting celebration in itself given the role it’s played in both the global and New Zealand wine landscape.

New Zealand redefined Sauvignon Blanc and as one of the first five wineries established in Marlborough Cloudy Bay took Sauvignon Blanc to a whole new dimension. “Marlborough has risen to become not only New Zealand’s leading wine region, but one of the most exciting winemaking regions in the world” says Cloudy Bay Estate Director, Ian Morden.

“Cloudy Bay is a benchmark, the most internationally recognised premium wine brand from New Zealand, and it is a both a pleasure and great responsibility to have the job of making a wine with the pedigree of Cloudy Bay Sauvignon” says Senior Winemaker, Tim Heath.

“From day one, Cloudy Bay successfully created a striking wine aroma that jumped out of the glass then captivated with its layers and drinkability on the palate.”

Cloudy Bay can only be produced in a specific part of the world, specific to a precise location within New Zealand, meaning every vintage is unique and scarce “Cloudy Bay is highly sought after and every distribution is carefully considered” says Morden.

With the 2015 season providing one of the driest summers on record and an official drought declared in Marlborough, the Cloudy Bay team watched the weather with baited breath, waiting for even a hint of rain. Just as they had, years before, they triumphed over the drought-like conditions of 1998 and 2001, and have succeeded in producing a fresh and vibrant 2015 Sauvignon Blanc “another excellent example of our 30-year history of premium wine’’ says Heath.

“The 2015 Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc is intense, concentrated and focused with mouth-watering acidity that gives structure and textural intrigue to the palate, it is a hallmark expression of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.”

Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2015 shows bright, focused citrus aromatics where grapefruit and kaffir lime abound. A silky, concentrated palate reveals ripe, juicy stone fruit and lemongrass, supported by a subtle minerality. Its racy acidity leads toward a mouth-watering, persistent finish, suggesting a Sauvignon Blanc with ageability.
