NOW New Zealand Set For Further Expansion

Hawke’s Bay based telecommunications company NOW New Zealand plans to extend its broadband and calling service across the lower North Island. As part of its capital raising efforts, it has attracted a minority investment from Spark New Zealand.

“I see Spark’s interest as a real show of confidence in NOW’s proven ability to understand our local customers and give them the service they deserve”, says NOW’s CEO Hamish White. “They appreciate our ‘high service, high value’ business model that ensures our customers get the most from their technology.”

The investment boosts NOW’s position as a leading telecommunications provider, offering a clear point of difference. “We are excited to continue NOW’s rapid, but considered expansion across the North Island” says White.

Founded in Hawke’s Bay in 2002, NOW currently provides broadband and calling services to business and residential customers throughout Hawke’s Bay, Wellington, Kapiti, Rotorua, Taupo and Whakatane.

NOW will be expanding its trademark sales and service hubs and mobile business and residential technical experts into new regions of the lower North Island. It is forecast to employ and train over 60 new staff in the next 12 months. It will also continue to deliver NOW’s Smarter Communities programme, providing up to 5% of residential revenue for local community initiatives.

Spark New Zealand Chief Financial Officer Jolie Hodson says, “We have invested in NOW New Zealand Ltd because it’s a New Zealand owned and operated ISP with ambitious growth plans and a proven ability to deliver for their customers in the regions. We are excited to support Hamish and the team at NOW as they continue to execute their growth strategy, and see opportunities for NOW to work with Spark New Zealand to benefit customers.”
