Fonterra Appoints New Managing Director of Fonterra Brands
New Zealand

Fonterra has announced the appointment of Leon Clement to the role of Managing Director Fonterra Brands New Zealand (FBNZ).

Mr Clement, currently the Managing Director Fonterra Brands Sri Lanka and Indian Subcontinent, joined the Co-operative in 2002 and has held a number of roles in the consumer business in New Zealand and South East Asia.

Fonterra Managing Director, Oceania Judith Swales said Mr Clement’s strong leadership and strategic agility made him the ideal person to lead the Fonterra Brands New Zealand business.

“This was key in re-establishing Fonterra’s leadership position and building Fonterra to be a more trusted and connected organisation in the Sri Lankan market.

“Leon is a proven performer with considerable strengths in FMCG sales, marketing and foodservice. He has delivered significant volume and value results in every market he’s led and he’s leaving the Sri Lanka business in fantastic shape.

“Today in Sri Lanka Anchor is the number one full cream milk powder brand, which is the country’s largest dairy category. We also have a strong range of other leading brands in the market, including Anchor Pediapro, Anchor Newdale and Anlene.

“We look forward to him using his talents back home here in New Zealand.”

Mr Clement takes on his role from 1 February 2016, taking over from Acting Managing Director FBNZ Jonathon Box, and his replacement as Managing Director Fonterra Brands Sri Lanka and Indian Subcontinent will be announced soon.
