Little Diggers Bring Taste of Summer Just in Time

New Season Little Diggers Bring Taste of Summer Just in Time for Christmas

Lucky Sod, a New Zealand owned brand that grows a range of fresh, locally grown vegetables, has announced that its Little Digger salad potatoes are back on the shelves.

Little Digger potatoes are harvested each December when they are still young, meaning they are small, tender and perfect for summer meals.

“They’re always popular because they can be used in so many different ways over summer,” says Lucky Sod Sales Manager, Kathy Cowell. “They are beautiful in summery potato salads, barbecues or simply tossed with a little extra virgin olive oil or butter, garlic and mint.”

Alongside the Little Diggers launch, Lucky Sod will be running a “Not Just a Sidekick” campaign this festive season to encourage Kiwis to see potatoes as the superhero of a summer dish, not just an accompaniment.

“Many people don’t realise that potatoes are naturally gluten and fat free and they pack a real punch when it comes to vitamin C,” says Kathy. ‘They also contain more potassium than a banana. We’d love to see people celebrating the New Zealand potato and making it the star of more meals.”

Over summer, Lucky Sod will be providing inspiration around how to use potatoes over summer, with cooking tips and recipes. They will also be debunking the most common potato health myths. As part of the campaign, Lucky Sod will be venturing into the social media space for the first time in the brand’s history, launching new Facebook and Instagram profiles.

Being a seasonal potato, Little Diggers are available in 1kg bags and available at Countdown supermarkets nationwide – for a limited time only.
