At TimberNook Wellington, children have the chance to play together and independently, using stories, games, and experiences to have fun, learn, develop, and explore. New provider, Kelly Mouat, believes in the TimberNook philosophy that the more children engage in self-directed play and take reasonable risks outdoors, the better equipped they are to be successful in home and school environments.

Kelly feels “TimberNook Wellington will offer a uniquely New Zealand vibe with a woolshed classroom serving as the gateway to a memorable outdoor sensory experience.” Kelly Mouat, PhD, is a trained psychologist with research experience in child and adolescent health. She and her husband grew up in rural New Zealand and strongly believe that reasonable risk-taking and playing freely outdoors is beneficial for both physical health and mental wellbeing, particularly the development of self-confidence and resilience in children. “I feel passionate about bringing this experience to children in urban New Zealand”
