REINZ Residential Data Wrap up – 2015

REINZ, the most up to date source of real estate data in New Zealand, announced today that nationally from January – November 2015 compared to the same period in 2014 there were 23% more sales and a 7% increase in the median sale price.

Median Sale Prices | January – November 2015 compared to the same period in 2014

• The Auckland Median sale price saw a 19% increase. The median sale price for January - November 2015 for Auckland is $745,500.

• The National median sale price saw a 7% increase. The median sale price for New Zealand for January - November 2015 is $458,000.

• The National median sale price (excluding Auckland) saw a 4% increase. The median sale price for New Zealand (excluding Auckland) for January - November 2015 is $355,000.

Sales Volumes | January – November 2015 compared to the same period in 2014

• Sales volumes in the Auckland region totalled 29,895 which is a 17% increase.

• Sales volumes for New Zealand totalled 83,101 which is a 23% increase.

• Sales volumes for New Zealand (excluding Auckland) totalled 53,218 which is a 27% increase.

Days to Sell | January – November 2015 compared to the same period in 2014

• The days to sell in the Auckland region decreased by 6% to 30 days compared to the same period last year when the number of days to sell sat at 32.

• The days to sell for New Zealand decreased by 8% to 34 days compared to the same period last year when the number of days to sell sat at 37.

• The days to sell for New Zealand ( excluding Auckland) decreased by 10% to 38 days compared to the same period last year when the number of days to sell sat at 42.

Areas with the biggest change in Median price | January – November 2015 compared to the same period in 2014

Areas that had high increases in the median price include:

• Auckland Region – 19% increase

• Tauranga District - 13% increase

• South Waikato District- 11% increase

• Hauraki District – 9% increase

• Waikato District – 9% increase

Auckland areas with the biggest change in Median price | January – November 2015 compared to the same period in 2014

• Papakura District - 27% increase

• Waitakere City - 25% increase

• North Shore City – 21% increase

• Rodney District – 20% increase

• Manukau City – 19% increase

Areas with the biggest increase in sales volume | January – November 2015 compared to the same period in 2014

• Waitomo District – 102% increase

• Waikato District – 98% increase

• Matamata-Piako District – 78% increase

• Hamilton City - 76% increase

• Western Bay Of Plenty - 68% increase

“Our data shows that the market across the country has been buoyant with strong sales growth in the median sale price and in sales volumes. It is very encouraging to see the regions performing well,” says Colleen Milne, chief executive of the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand.
