Where will the jobs be in 2016?

Where will the jobs be in 2016?

Financial Accountants, Registered Valuers and Business Development Managers are just three professions that recruiting expert Hays says will be in high demand in New Zealand throughout 2016.

According to the latest Hays Quarterly Report, out today, professionals in marketing, IT, architecture, construction and HR are also high on the list of skills employers will look for this year.

“The January to March quarter is traditionally a peak recruitment season for many industries and we will see vacancy activity increase, with the majority of employers reviewing their headcount and planning their New Year recruitment schedule,” says Jason Walker, Managing Director of Hays in New Zealand.

“During 2015 New Zealand weathered unstable milk prices, the devaluing of the Kiwi dollar and the impact of a weaker Chinese economy, but by the end of the year business confidence was on an upswing and we saw a surge in year-end activity, including hiring.

“Add strong construction figures, a widespread desire to utilise big data, new foreign brands entering New Zealand, an increasing suburban population and higher than expected levels of business activity, and demand is increasing for temporary and permanent professionals.”

“Put all this together and it certainly signals an active job market for those professionals with the skills in demand.”
