Nanette Moreau appointed to act as EGCC Commissioner

The Board of the Electricity and Gas Complaints Commissioner Scheme today announced the appointment of Nanette Moreau to act as Commissioner for the Scheme.

Ms Moreau will take up the position in March 2016. She succeeds Judi Jones who has been appointed to the role of Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman, Australia.

Chair of the EGCC Board, Hon Heather Roy noted Ms Moreau’s extensive experience in alternative dispute resolution, change management and the law and welcomed her to the new role in the organisation.

“The EGCC Board is pleased to appoint Nanette Moreau, currently Deputy Commissioner, to act as Commissioner of the EGCC Scheme. Ms Moreau is highly committed to the organisation and we look forward to working with her as Commissioner. The Scheme is currently being reviewed, as the Scheme document dictates, and Nanette was the obvious choice to guide the EGCC through this process,” said Heather Roy.

Ms Moreau has held the position of Electricity and Gas Complaints Deputy Commissioner since 2002. She has worked with outgoing Commissioner, Judi Jones, to establish a best in class industry Scheme.

“I look to continue the good work of the Scheme. I look forward to working with the Board, all stakeholders, and to maintaining our ongoing role as a best practice dispute resolution Scheme, and a Best Workplace,” Ms Moreau said.

Ms Moreau has a wealth of experience gained from holding chief executive and senior management roles in the private and public sectors in Canada and New Zealand. Before coming to the EGCC in 2002 Ms Moreau was a consultant on the commercial litigation team with Harkness Henry, Phillips Fox and a senior consultant with Ernst and Young, focussed on the transition of local government.

Prior to coming to New Zealand Nanette was the founding Executive Director of the Alberta Arbitration and Mediation Society, and the Director of Planning with the Government of Alberta.
