Make Beer, Save the Rhino

Make Beer, Save the Rhino

Nelson’s MarchFest and the first ever NZ Homebrew Conference (NZHC) is finishing things off a little differently this year.

When the brewing is over and everyone goes home, the excitement continues. Brewing heroes (travelling from the US) John Palmer, James Spencer, Mike “Tasty” McDole, Chris Colby and Andy Sparks will brew during NZ’s first big brewing conference weekend 18-20 March, using Grainfathers.

Those new Grainfathers (all in one electric brewing systems to make beer from grain easily, no experience necessary!), christened by these brewing gods, will then be auctioned off via Trade Me on Monday 21 March with all proceeds going to charitable trust Imake a Difference, which is striving to end rhino poaching.

MarchFest has been going strong as a craft beer festival in the craft beer capital of New Zealand for the last eight years and is now being joined by NZHC.

NZHC raised $11,487 via PledgeMe and will be New Zealand’s first national home brewing conference.

Brewing conferences happen all over the world throughout the year, namely large ones such as American Homebrewers Conference, and Australian Homebrewers Conference, UK national Homebrewers conference, all of which you can find the Grainfather at.

The Grainfather is giving homebrew another face. A kiwi invention launched in 2014, it’s no longer that awful stuff your grandad used to make, it’s now real craft beer bursting with flavour and all made in your own home from actual fresh grain and hops. The Grainfather’s all in one system makes brewing the real way easy for people of all experience levels.
