EGCC call for Scheme consultation submissions

EGCC call for Scheme consultation submissions

The Board of the Electricity and Gas Complaints Commissioner Scheme is consulting with members and stakeholders on its proposal to amend the EGCC Scheme.

The proposed changes are intended to ensure the structure and operation of the EGCC meets its legislated requirements and remains relevant.

"The proposed changes follow our regular review of the Scheme against the requirements in the Electricity Industry Act. The proposal is our strategic response to ensure we remain relevant in light of the changes in the electricity and gas industries. We believe the proposed changes will position us well for the five yearly independent review of the Scheme, due this year" said Board Chair Heather Roy

Submissions close on Monday 14 March 2016. Consultation documents are available on the EGCC website at http://www.egcomplaints.co.nz/consultation/current-consultation.

Background

The EGCC Scheme offers a free and independent service for resolving complains about electricity or gas (including LPG cylinders over 15kg).

The EGCC is the approved resolution Scheme for complaints about electricity and gas. All electricity and gas organisations must belong to the EGCC, and tell customers they are members.

The EGCC can consider complaints up to $50,000, or up to $100,000 with the agreement of the Scheme member.
