Air NZ announcement good news for the Nelson region and workers

Air New Zealand’s first international contract for its Nelson maintenance hub is great news for the region and shows the value of unions and employers working together constructively.

“In recent years we’ve been working with Air New Zealand on ways to engage the people who work for them in finding innovative ways to grow the business,” says Kelvin Ellis, E tū director of organising for aviation.

“The Nelson maintenance hub is one of the ideas we worked on – together.

“This is great news for the Nelson region because it keeps the engineering jobs there. It’s a solid endorsement of the value of real engagement between unions and business.

“When workers stand together and the employer listens and works with them, everyone wins.”
