TVNZ OnDemand Surpasses One Million Milestone
TVNZ OnDemand is celebrating a significant milestone of
more than one million registered New Zealand users - just
one year after launching its new-look free subscriber
platform.
The free-to-view service currently houses an average of 250 new episodes each week, which TVNZ’s Head of Content, Jeff Latch, attributes to OnDemand’s success, along with the quality of content offered.
“TVNZ OnDemand is New Zealand’s favourite local on demand destination. People come to us for premieres express from the US, TV ONE and TV2 catch-up content, live steams, local series, shorts, kids programmes, documentaries, movies, and full seasons. It has a more eclectic and diverse range of shows than people perhaps realise,” he says.
This month TVNZ OnDemand has reached record high streams. Here are some fast facts on TVNZ OnDemand:
• More than
one million registered users have subscribed to the
service
• Shortland Street is the number one
viewed show with a quarter of a million streams each
week
• TVNZ OnDemand Shorts has racked up
over 430,000 streams since launching in December
• Filthy Rich has hit over 170,000 streams in its first
three weeks
• 40% of all streams come from
mobile viewing
TVNZ OnDemand is available on 10 different platforms including Freeview Plus, Samsung TV, PlayStation, laptops, tablets, smart phones, and soon to be on Xbox gaming consoles. Viewers can now receive push notifications to their devices when new episodes are available and receive personalized recommendations for other interesting content.
Coming up on the service is the launch of DUKE, which will offer both live streaming and OnDemand shows.
TVNZ’s Head of Content, Jeff Latch, looks forward to this development saying, “Viewers are looking for choice, and that’s exactly what TVNZ OnDemand gives them."
