Early Warning and Protection Systems Soon To Be Available

QMI Earthquake, Water/Gas Leak, Early Warning and Protection Systems Soon To Be Available In New Zealand

Sofield Investments Ltd Imports Division announces the release of the innovative QMI “Watchdog” and “Maestro” earthquake, water leak, gas leak, early warning and protection systems.

Earthquakes in New Zealand have been disastrous. On Feb 22 2011, the earthquake in Christchurch caused fatalities and millions of dollars lost in property repairs. In the aftermath, ruptured water and gas lines caused further devastating damage and risks to people and property. The requirements for a pre-warning and protection system became priority and Canadian engineers have responded with these new and innovative systems.

The Watchdog Earthquake Early Warning Alarm from QMI detects the primary-wave (p-wave) ground motion caused by an earthquake and sounds an alarm before potentially damaging secondary waves (s-wave) arrive. This valuable warning time can range from a few seconds to a few minutes depending on the distance from the epicentre and the geological conditions in the area.

The Watchdog is equipped with a loud (115dB) audible alarm and strobe light. With this loud alarm combined with visual stimulus of the strobe, even people who are hard of hearing are sure to take notice. And if an earthquake occurs during the night, the siren is loud enough to awaken all but the most sound of sleepers. Easily installed onto a load bearing wall, the Watchdog is a non-expensive peace-of-mind accessory available to go into New Zealand home.

The QMI Maestro system is the most advanced, patented, earthquake, water leak, gas leak detection, and automatic shutoff system in the market today.

An essential safety net for museums, hotels, fire-stations, hospitals, any industrial situation and the home user, the Maestro comes with the peace of mind that water and gas services will be shut down in the case of a sensor detecting an emergency.

Made in Canada, this network-enabled system features state of the art technology developed by QMI Canada that will automatically shut down the appropriate valve and report to you in the event of an earthquake or whenever a sensor detects a leak.

The Maestro wireless valves, designed, developed, and manufactured by QMI Canada are battery operated wireless, stainless-steel valves. The valves are in constant communication with the controller. The water valve will immediately shut whenever a water sensor detects water, the gas valve will immediately shut whenever a gas sensor detects gas, and both valves will shut when the earthquake sensor detects an earthquake. When the battery voltage gets low in value, it will transmit a low-battery warning, and you will get an email notification. This state of the art system proves highly valuable in the protection of assets from the terrible damage potentially caused by water or gas leaks in either the aftermath of an earthquake or any other event causing a water or gas leak.
