Wellingtonians rewarded with more bang for their ‘bucq’

Wellingtonians rewarded with more bang for their ‘bucq’

An exciting new technology is about to hit the streets of Wellington!

An exciting new trend is hitting the capital this week (Friday 1 April).

Developed by BPS Technology, which owns Bartercard - the world’s largest listed Global Trade exchange – bucqi is a national rewards programme designed for small to medium sized businesses as a way to reward their customers, benefitting both merchants and consumers who will earn more bang for their bucq!

bucqi has already enjoyed much success since its launch in Queensland, Australia in December 2015. Early indications would suggest the same success will quickly be realised here in New Zealand, having already gained traction and support from the likes of Wellington Lions, The Hurricanes, Massey University Student Union, Wellington Hockey Association and The Child Cancer Foundation.

Billed as the ‘app that gives you more bang for your bucq’, bucqi is unlike other reward points schemes. It allows people to earn dollar-for-dollar rewards and spend them without the need for working out how many points are required to generate a purchase. It’s set to revolutionise the way consumers, clubs, charities and businesses interact.

Wellington was chosen as the first city in New Zealand to try out this exciting new software platform because of its high number of tech-savvy consumers, compact central city and large number of Bartercard merchants. Bartercard NZ CEO, John Scott says the platform was developed to connect Bartercard members to everyday consumers: “For consumers, bucqi offers an entirely new way to shop. Each time you pay with bucqi, you earn ‘bucqs’ which can then be used dollar-for-dollar on your next purchase.”

“To already have support from the likes of Wellington Lions and The Hurricanes who are behind the launch is a tremendous boost to everyone that is involved, and demonstrates a belief of its anticipated early success.” says Scott.

Sam Rama is owner of Wellington’s Arabica Café and a long-standing Bartercard member of over 15 years. “We are delighted to be part of the launch of bucqi in Wellington. It will allow us to reach out to an even wider database of people and will enable us to attract more cash paying customers."

With over 50 outlets already on board within the Wellington CBD and a further 7,000 Bartercard businesses nationwide, it’s expected the opportunities will grow over the coming months as more and more businesses want to join this revolutionary rewards programme.

How bucqi works:
Consumers will receive a minimum of 20% reward for every dollar they spend with participating businesses, all of whom are Bartercard members. These bucqs can then be used to spend dollar for dollar on subsequent purchases at any of the participating bucqi outlets. It’s a great opportunity to allow shoppers to support businesses within their local community such as bars, cafes, restaurants, hairdressers, health and beauty and tradespeople.

For businesses, bucqi provides an opportunity to attract, reward and retain cash customers, while growing the business. The innovative rewards app also provides a way to upscale the reward or redemption deals they offer. Customers pay by using the app to scan the business’ unique bucqi QR code and the cash paid is paid straight into the business’ bank account.

Sports clubs and non-for-profit organisations can benefit from bucqi as the app makes is easy to raise funds. Once the consumer is tied to their chosen charity, for each dollar they spend on everyday purchases, the charity will receive 1% cash back.

To find out how you can get more bang for your bucq, visit www.bucqi.co.nz or simply visit the app store to download the free bucqi app.

It is anticipated that bucqi will be rolled out to other regions later this year.
