MYOB partners up to support franchises

MYOB further solidified its support for New Zealand business through key strategic partnerships signed with Franchise New Zealand magazine and website, and the Franchise Association of NZ (FANZ) this month.

According to Franchise New Zealand, New Zealand is the most franchised country in the world on a per capita basis, with approximately 450 franchise systems and around 22,400 franchised units.

Furthermore, a 2015 report by Australian company FRANdata found that New Zealand ranked third in the world for the contribution of franchises to GDP (behind France and Australia).

MYOB General Manager SME Solutions James Scollay says that MYOB is excited to be partnering with two key organisations that support this important and growing sector. The shared goal is to help franchises understand new ways of doing business in the cloud and how online accounting software can drive efficiencies and cashflow.

“Franchise New Zealand is often referred to as the ‘bible of franchising’ as its website and printed magazine are relied upon by thousands of franchise buyers across the country. In addition, the Franchise Association of New Zealand is the leading industry body for the franchising community,” he says.

“Our partnerships with these two organisations are part of MYOB’s ongoing commitment to supporting New Zealand business owners. It gives us the opportunity to talk directly with tens of thousands of business owners about the benefits of doing business in the cloud and offer tailored packages designed specifically for the franchise industry.”

Founder and publisher of Franchise New Zealand Simon Lord says they are thrilled to have MYOB on board.

“We are delighted to be joining forces with MYOB to help improve the control that franchisors and franchisees have over their own businesses,” he says.

“As MYOB users ourselves for over 20 years, we know the value of having timely financial information for making good management decisions and staying on top of cashflow. Those benefits are enhanced in a franchise, where franchisors and franchisees can work together and share the information they need to help businesses grow. With its cloud-based systems, MYOB makes that easy.”

FANZ CEO Robyn Pickerill says “our members are always interested in business improvement and I have no doubt that MYOB will have many offerings which will be of great interest to them. We look forward to involving MYOB in our many events, including a strong presence at our annual conference and developing a long term relationship.”

MYOB’s National Business Development Manager Mon Patel agrees that working together will help franchise businesses grow and prosper.

“Operating a small business is no mean feat as owners often have to come to grips with the administration work behind doing what they are passionate about. Franchising opens doors to training, resources and support that the business owner may not otherwise have access to.”

“Business owners in the franchise sector know that by working together the whole can be greater than the sum of its parts. We’re aiming to be an important contributor to that whole,” says Mr Patel.
