Attaché supports MYOB and ANZ Start Up initiative

Attaché supports MYOB and ANZ Start Up initiative

BUSINESS systems software provider Attaché has thrown its support behind a new startup initiative designed to help the more than 300,000 New Zealand micro businesses who need support to grow.

Attaché’s New Zealand Country Manager, Brent Irvine has welcomed the announcement of a new initiative between ANZ and MYOB, directly targeting businesses in their infancy.

Having an entry level business system such as MYOB is the key to ensuring your business will be successful, grow, and critically make it through the incubator period of two years.

This is typically when most small businesses fail, and Brent’s support makes sense. Attaché is part of the MInstitute, which aims to double the number of medium sized businesses across Australasia. To achieve that goal small businesses need to survive and focus on key drivers.

One the most important aspects of business growth, according to Brent, is to know your numbers.

In other words, having good business information to make good business decisions can make a huge difference.

Once you’re a multinational that’s fine, because you have a finance department, but when you own your own business, that’s not necessarily an easy thing to achieve. Key to surviving that critical time is cash flow.

“We all know that in today’s business environment, it’s agreed Cash is King, which again is why a good business system is critical,” Brent says. “That being said, there are very simple things that small business owners can do to assist with their cash flow.”

Simple steps include not accepting that terms must be the 20 th of the next month. It is perfectly appropriate to start a customer with cash on delivery terms.

Likewise, solutions such as MYOB’s Pay Direct or BNZ’s PayClip can assist with taking payments on completion of work, improving cash flow dramatically.

Making it through the first 2 years enables businesses to understand their place in the market, and where they should be heading next to turn themselves into an established medium business.

Brent sees Attaché as being that evolutionary next step for businesses who’ve outgrown their existing accounting package.

“Moving from MYOB or Xero to Attaché enables businesses to better understand and action change based on their numbers,” he says. “By getting better information in, businesses can utilise that to unlock cash in their business, making them more efficient and proactive in responding to market demands.”

By supporting ANZ and MYOB in this initiative, Brent says businesses will naturally want to take the next step in growing their company, and Attaché, with more than 35 years experience in the market, is perfectly placed to support them.
