Raising the (equity) roof

21 April 2016

Raising the (equity) roof

Taranaki-based outdoor shelter maker Flexiroof is launching an equity crowdfunding campaign on PledgeMe on 22 April, to fund taking their innovative shelter designs to outdoor spaces around New Zealand, and the world.

Flexiroof have been making elegant and simple shelters for patios and outdoor areas since 2013. Founder Simon Moore says that after validating their product, with more than half a million dollars in sales, they are ready to shift the business to the next stage by providing shelter kits directly to customers.

“We are excited to be able work with PledgeMe to invite our existing supporters, initial customers, and the wider market to join us in the next part of our business growth”, says Moore.

“With more than 1.5 million private dwellings in New Zealand, we have a large domestic market to support our ongoing growth. That base will drive our long-term goal – to sell kits throughout Australasia and license our intellectual property around the world.”

Flexiroof is expecting to raise a minimum of $165,000, and up to $330,000, which represents 4.2%–8.1% of the company, at $1.10 per share.

Mr Moore said that Flexiroof had received excellent feedback from customers all over New Zealand, including builders interested in becoming accredited agents around the country.

“After more than two years perfecting our product and putting shelters up ourselves, we’re now ready to take the next step in our plan – providing kits to shelter naked patios throughout New Zealand and around the globe.”

PledgeMe founder and CEO Anna Guenther said it is inspiring to see Kiwi ingenuity at work as Flexiroof seeks funding from their crowd on PledgeMe.

“Simon is a mix of inventor and businessman, having already developed and successfully sold technology to Nike Golf.

“It’s amazing to see companies like Flexiroof turning to their crowd as they get set to expand sales across Australasia.”

Flexiroof’s campaign will go live at 11.00 am on 22 April at pldg.me/flexi
