Auckland Conventions announces key appointment

Auckland Conventions Venues & Events has announced Tony Howlett the new Associate Director and Head of Operations, in a move to further develop the organisation’s growing market.

“The role of Associate Director and Head of Operations is a new role, created to build upon our current good work as well as to further grow our client base, and to provide increased support and strategic direction across our team,” says Auckland Conventions Director Mohamed Mansour.

“A committed focus on business development activities and operations is core to this position and I am confident that Tony’s significant experience and expertise in these areas will enable us to deliver upon our organisational goals.”

Mr Howlett brings extensive sales and marketing expertise, supported by comprehensive operations experience, to the role. He also has both international and national exposure, along with a strong management history.

“Tony will work with our busy events team around event planning and delivery. We currently host more than 800 events per annum.

“His focus on business development, customer engagement, and streamlining operations will not only benefit our organisation, but will ensure that our regional, national, and international clients benefit also.”

Mr Howlett says he is excited about taking up his new role, particularly working in such a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

“Having the opportunity to work across such a broad range of venues is unique. Auckland Conventions is highly regarded within the events and conference sector. By working with my new team, I am confident we will further cement Auckland as New Zealand’s destination of choice for any type and scale of event year around,” he says.

Mr Howlett’s appointment signals a strong start to the year for Auckland Conventions with a number of key Auckland events hosted at its venues across the region, including the Auckland Seafood Festival, and key industry tradeshow Convene 2016. The hugely popular NZ Fashion Week and Auckland On Water Boat Show is scheduled for later in the year.
