Demand for rural wireless broadband growing month on month

Demand for rural wireless broadband growing month on month

Vodafone welcomes the latest rural broadband figures released by MBIE this morning.

Consumer Director Matt Williams said, “We know that wireless connectivity plays a huge role in enabling regional communities to advance in business, education and quality of life.

“We also know that kiwis in every corner of New Zealand have an increasingly voracious appetite for better, faster mobile and broadband speeds. To put this demand into perspective – as a country we are now consuming more data in a month than we did in an entire year, 15 years ago.

“This explosion in demand is why Vodafone partnered with the Government and Chorus to extend our mobile network as part of the Rural Broadband Initiative (RBI).

“With the build of new RBI cell sites now nearly complete, it is very exciting to see demand for mobile and wireless broadband services continue to grow month on month,” Williams said.

From Te Kao in the Far North to Stewart Island in the South – find out if your home, farm or business is capable of switching to rural wireless broadband today by visiting www.vodafone.co.nz/network/rural
