New Network Evening Sponsor Underpins Society Effort
The Maintenance Engineering Society of NZ (MESNZ) Network Evening Series is gathering steam across New Zealand, buoyed by the announcement of a new series sponsor, Kaeser Compressors New Zealand.
One of the world’s largest and most successful suppliers of air systems, Kaeser Compressors manufactures an extensive range of high quality stationary, low pressure, portable and dental compressors from its state-of-the-art production facility in Germany. Closer to home, Kaeser Compressors New Zealand provides comprehensive sales and service support throughout New Zealand from its offices in Auckland, alongside an extensive and committed network of authorised sales and service centres.
It is no surprise then that this commitment to industry extends to engineers on the ground and the activities of MESNZ . The Kaeser Compressors Network Evening Series is benefiting from the support of Kaeser with strong organic growth across both islands. The Auckland calender is full, Timaru is turning into a new stronghold of activity with evenings planned at DB and Holcim, while final details are being consolidated for evenings in Waikato and Christchurch. Full details of the schedule can be found at http://www.mesnz.org.nz/activities/network-evenings/
In Auckland, the April Network Evening held at Manukau Institute of Technology heralded a different affair which, judging on its success, could spawn a whole new series of society inspired activities.
Rather than the traditional network evening ethos of taking a look under the hood of a host operation, the MIT evening provided a primer for people (young and old) wanting to explore the world of engineering apprenticeships and careers. Backed by Competenz, MIT, Enterprise MIT and IRHACE as well as a cross section of industry, the hopefuls were treated to a whole range of sage advice and inspiration as well as a very popular tour of the MIT machine shop facilities.
The unexpected bonus of the evening was the benefit of pulling all the education and industry related organisations together in the one forum. The value extracted for all was enormous, leading MESNZ to consider taking a distinct engineering careers evening roadshow around other New Zealand centres.
