Vodafone’s network named ‘Best in Test’

Vodafone’s mobile phone network has been named ‘Best in Test’ by the international leader in mobile performance testing, P3 Communications.

In April this year, a team of independent network analysts arrived in New Zealand to travel the country’s main cities and highways to assess the network performance of Vodafone, Spark and 2degrees.

Each retail service provider was ranked on call quality and clarity, data speeds, latency, YouTube, and web browsing performance.

By a clear margin, Vodafone achieved the highest scores in both voice and data services, earning the coveted ‘Best in Test’ certificate from P3 Communications.

Consumer Director Matt Williams said, “We know that a large, fast and reliable mobile network plays an extremely important role in our busy and connected modern lives.

“Demand for better, faster and more reliable mobile services continues to grow exponentially, and we’re delighted that our continued investment in our network has seen it perform head and shoulders above the rest.

“This certification simply means Vodafone customers can rest assured they are on the network that achieved top marks for voice calling and mobile data services, according to an independent test,” he said.

When assessing Vodafone’s network, the P3 Communications analysts experienced the least number of dropped calls, the best call clarity and the fastest call set up times compared to Spark and 2degrees.

Vodafone’s network also delivered the fastest download speeds - achieving an average download speed of 45Mbps compared to 21Mbps from its closest competitor. Vodafone also had the best web browsing performance.

Vodafone Technology Director Tony Baird said, “The Vodafone New Zealand team works very hard to give our customers the best possible experience across our mobile network.

“It is great to see their passion and commitment to our network and our customers acknowledged with the ‘Best in Test’ P3 Communications certification.”
