Blerter visits National Fieldays

Blerter visits National Fieldays

Blerter will be at this year's National Fieldays held at Mystery Creek in Hamilton talking to the rural sector about health and safety.

Fieldays is the largest agricultural trade show in the Southern Hemisphere with over 1000 exhibitors and more than 120,000 visitors over a five-day period.

With agriculture still New Zealand's number one economic contributor, health and safety plays a large role and Blerter is keen to hear from agribusiness owners as to what health and safety looks like for them. Blerter founder and CEO Richard Gill says Blerter's number one concern is to make sure everyone goes home safely at the end of a day's work.

The Institute of Directors and WorkSafe have estimated the cost of workplace injuries and illness (including death) at $243.5 billion a year and Gill says he'd like to help reduce that toll. That's 2% of our GDP every single year and that doesn't include the wider impact on friends and family who lose a loved one, on our hospital system as it copes with long-term rehabilitation needs of those who are maimed while at the work.

Blerter works by upgrading health and safety protocols for the digital age. While most health and safety apps simply transfer existing form-based processes to a tablet or mobile device, Blerter reinvents health and safety for a real-time, always on environment.

All too often incidents are caused after someone has reported a problem but before that communication has got to everyone who might be affected. With Blerter, if you see a problem you can take a photo using your phone, alert everyone who needs to know and make sure everyone is aware of the problem.

Blerter can be found at the Vodafone stand, in the Innovation Centre.
