Russell holiday parks clean up at national awards

Two local holiday parks have beaten out some stiff competition to collect three awards between them at Wednesday night’s Holiday Accommodation Parks of New Zealand (HAPNZ) annual conference awards dinner.

Russell TOP 10 Holiday Park took out the coveted 2016 AA Traveller Spirit of Hospitality Award, beating out four other finalists from around New Zealand.

AA Tourism Publishing General Manager Moira Penman says the award showcases real life examples of putting hospitality knowledge into practice and truly going the extra mile for New Zealand holiday park guests.

“These awards are a way to recognise those that go above and beyond and highlight the ever growing standard of New Zealand holiday parks.”

Russell TOP 10 Holiday Park also received a Highly Commended in the Tourism Industry Aotearoa (TIA) Innovation Award for becoming the first smoke-free holiday park in NZ.

In what was a great night for local parks, Russell – Orongo Bay Holiday Park won the PGG Wrightson Turf – Park Grounds Award.

This award recognises parks that have made significant improvements to their park grounds, and take great pride in the overall appearance of their park.

The award is well deserved, and the quality of park presentation is a credit to owners Don & Angela Armitage and their team.

The wins cap off a great month for the parks who were both recently awarded TripAdvisor Certificates of Excellence for consistently receiving positive reviews on the well-known travel site.
