West Auckland Business Leaders Celebrated At Hall Of Fame

Two local business people were inducted into the BNZ West Auckland Business Hall of Fame by the Deputy Prime Minister Bill English at a luncheon on Thursday at The Trusts Arena.

Joe Babich, ONZM, of Babich Wines and John Barnett, former CEO and Chair of South Pacific Pictures, were acknowledged for their outstanding contribution to business that extends beyond their West Auckland bases.

The West Auckland Business Hall of Fame, previously known as the Waitakere Business Hall of Fame, recognises outstanding business achievement in the West.

The West Auckland Business Club, Rosebank Business Association and UHY Haines Norton have joined forces, with the support of Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED), to continue the Hall of Fame legacy.

“Babich Wines is currently celebrating the 100 th year of its successful dynasty and John Barnett, who has now stepped down as Chair of South Pacific Pictures, has delighted us on screen with hits such as Shortland Street, Outrageous Fortune and Whale Rider,” Tim Livingstone, Chair of the West Auckland Business Club says.

“It seemed like the perfect time to mark these milestones and the contribution of these two inspiring business people to both West Auckland and New Zealand as a whole,” he says.
