PwC Partner Mark Averill elected as new CEO

PwC Partner Mark Averill elected as new CEO

PwC New Zealand Partner Mark Averill has been elected as the new Senior Partner and CEO of the firm, effective 1 October 2016.

Mr Averill has been a Partner for 14 years, a member of the executive team for three years and has spent a total of almost 26 years at the firm. He will serve as territory senior partner and CEO for the next four years.

“Mark has been instrumental in establishing and growing our M&A business and in leading our corporate finance and deals team, achieving significant growth while also building a market-leading and high performing group,” says CEO and senior partner Bruce Hassall, who will stay on until 30 September 2016.

“These are exciting times where we face a changing global landscape,” says Mr Averill. “It is therefore critical that we’re able to act quickly to either take advantage of the opportunities or meet the challenges presented to us. We want to make sure we always stay close to our clients while growing our business sustainably and strengthening our market leading position.

“At PwC we have a great team of Partners and staff and we’re at our best when we use the breadth of our skills and expertise to help our clients,” says Mr Averill. “We will continue to ensure we identify opportunities to add value for our clients, staff and communities.”

Mr Averill says he is proud to be endorsed as the next CEO by Partners at the firm and will continue to remain active in the market and available to clients.

Mr Averill has been PwC’s National Deals Leader for the past five years and has enjoyed a successful track record in the market. He has a thorough understanding of the firm and is well-placed to ensure that PwC is positioned for continued success.

PwC New Zealand has invested in new skill-sets and strategic partnerships and alliances including the establishment of an Innovation and Ventures Hub, the acquisition of real estate advisory firm Wareham and Cameron and a digital services team.
