Time Has Come – See You at Treble Cone

LAKE WANAKA, New Zealand – What are you doing Saturday morning at 9am? Riding Treble Cone’s Six Seater Chairlift.

Opening Day has arrived at Treble Cone. Due to the recent storm coming through, plus some terrific snowmaking, the Home Basin, Nice ‘n’ Easy Platter and Magic Carpet area will all open to the public this Saturday, 16th July.

This past storm has gifted the Upper Home Basin with 65 cm of fresh snow and 25 cm at the base building. These two fronts have allowed us to open up runs in the Home Basin as of Saturday. Due to forecasted winds the Saddle Basin will be on hold till control work is complete. As soon as this is done we will notify our customers, this could be potentially as soon as Saturday midday.

“We are all working around the clock to have the complete mountain open for our customers to enjoy, and when temperatures allow will carry on making snow to add to what we have. We have had the Treble Cone Snow Sports School and TCRA (Treble Cone Racing Academy) boot packing today which was an amazing sight. 60 people packing down the dry snow manually. This process means we have a solid base for the coming season but involves, as you can imagine a lot of man power.” said Jackie van der Voort, Treble Cone CEO.

Opening day will be toasted with a free glass of Amisfield Bubbles held in the Plaza at11:30am. Plus enjoy the sounds of Evan North, Treble Cone’s 2016 resident musician, who will be playing at noon.

“Everyone is really excited about opening tomorrow. There is a definite buzz in the air, ever since that storm that came through. This weekend will see everything else kick into gear - Snow Sports School, Rentals, all our On-Mountain Cafes and Retail Shop will all be open,” added Jackie.
