Harman Grubiša Announced as 2016 ‘Mercedes-Benz Presents’ Designer

Auckland – Mercedes-Benz New Zealand is excited to announce that it will enter into its third year as an Elite Partner of New Zealand Fashion Week, and will recognise Harman Grubiša as the 2016 ‘Mercedes-Benz Presents’ designer.

The Mercedes-Benz brand has established itself as the premier automotive partner of global fashion, following 21 years of commitment to the industry. Building on the success of fashion events in more than 30 countries, including the title sponsorship of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Weeks in Sydney, Berlin and Tokyo, Mercedes-Benz is proud to again align with New Zealand’s iconic fashion week.

The brand’s involvement in fashion draws on the clear parallels that exist between the two industries. The luxury automotive and fashion worlds recognise passion, style, ground-breaking design, high quality materials and first-class technical innovations as critical factors for success. Over the course of more than two decades supporting fashion globally, Mercedes-Benz has forged in particular, a reputation for the promotion of young design talent.

Harman Grubiša’s entrepreneurial success and timeless, classic design appeal, has rendered it one of the nation’s most exciting new fashion labels, and is one of the first New Zealand labels to be nominated for The International Woolmark Prize. The brand will present its 2017 Autumn/Winter collection as ‘Mercedes-Benz Presents Harman Grubiša’. This exclusive runway show in conjunction with Mercedes-Benz will feature as the debut evening show at 2016 New Zealand Fashion Week.

“We are both thrilled and humbled to have been invited into the global Mercedes-Benz family”, said Madeleine Harman of Harman Grubiša.

“Mercedes-Benz’s commitment to promoting fashion worldwide is incredible.”

“We have the utmost admiration for the Mercedes-Benz Presents designers and accolade, and feel honoured to be joining such an esteemed list of talent”, said Jessica Grubiša. “It’s wonderful to be partnering with a brand that shares the same core values of innovation and premium craftsmanship.”

The ‘Mercedes-Benz Presents’ accolade is a global initiative which recognises designers who demonstrate dedication to the use of high quality materials, innovative design and unique style. Harman Grubiša joins esteemed previous global recipients including designers such as Carolina Herrera, Derek Lam, Badgely Mischka, Dame Trelise Cooper and Kate Sylvester.

In addition to the ‘Mercedes-Benz Presents’ runway show, Mercedes-Benz will support New Zealand Fashion Week as the event’s ‘official automotive partner’. Mercedes-Benz will provide a fleet of official event vehicles to transport VIP guests throughout Fashion Week in unrivalled Mercedes-Benz luxury.

Mr Ben Giffin, General Manager, Mercedes-Benz Cars New Zealand said “We are thrilled to welcome New Zealand’s most exciting new designer Harman Grubiša into the global family of Mercedes-Benz Presents designers.

Harman Grubiša is unquestionably one of New Zealand’s most cutting-edge and innovative new design duos. From a fashion perspective, the brand appeals to women who stand for ethically produced, quality garments, and we feel that these philosophies are in perfect synergy with the Mercedes-Benz brand and production values.

The elegant, timeless styling that Jessica and Madeleine employ in their clothing, clearly aligns with the sophistication of the Mercedes-Benz design language, yet they speak to the same youthful buyers we’re now appealing to with our new generation compact car range. We couldn’t think of a more perfect fit for our brand.

As Elite Partner again in 2016, Mercedes-Benz is excited to enhance the luxury and style of New Zealand Fashion Week, and we are particularly delighted to be exclusively debuting Harman Grubiša’s latest designs at the ‘Mercedes-Benz Presents’ runway show.”
