AMP launches new range of funds for KiwiSaver and corporate superannuation investors

AMP has today launched 16 new funds within its AMP KiwiSaver Scheme providing members access to a total of 27 funds managed by five of the industry’s leading fund managers. Backed by the full range of benefits AMP offers its customers, the enhancements create one of the most compelling KiwiSaver schemes in the market.

The new range includes funds managed by ANZ Investments, ASB Group Investments, Fisher Funds Management, Nikko Asset Management New Zealand and single sector and diversified fund options through AMP Capital Investors. The fund managers each have different styles, philosophies and a variety of asset allocation approaches so members can create a best-of-breed investment solution, all through the AMP KiwiSaver Scheme.

It also includes a responsible investment option for the increasing number of Kiwis who want to invest in a socially responsible way, backed by a report[1] launched yesterday by the Responsible Investment Association Australasia (RIAA) that shows a significant sum of New Zealand’s capital now being invested responsibly (totaling $78.7 billion).

Therese Singleton, AMP’s General Manager of Insurance and Investments, says, “KiwiSaver members increasingly want more options when it comes to saving for retirement, particularly as their balances grow and they take a more active role in managing their investments. The new range of funds enables members of our AMP KiwiSaver Scheme to easily access and switch between more funds through a single provider, so they can better manage their investments to help them achieve their financial goals, both now and in the future as their needs change.

“More ‘hands-off’ investors will continue to be well looked after through investment options such as AMP’s Lifesteps, which automatically allocates savings to funds that match a customer’s age over time. However, we are receiving increased demand from members who would like even more fund choice so they can take greater control of their investments, even in retirement with options like the new AMP Income Generator Fund.

“AMP also offers our members a broad range of contemporary benefits, including regular communications, access to digital services including the My AMP app, and member only benefits such as our recent bundled insurance offer, AMP Essentials – all backed by New Zealand’s largest and most diverse network of financial Advisers. That’s why we believe we can do more to help our KiwiSaver members achieve the retirement they deserve.”

From today 9 new funds are also available in AMP’s New Zealand Retirement Trust (NZRT).

AMP has received its licence to receive transfers from UK pension schemes and is preparing to launch a Qualifying Recognised Overseas Pension Scheme (QROPS) product within NZRT. This means AMP customers will be able to transfer their UK pensions to New Zealand and to AMP from existing QROPS in New Zealand and take full advantage of the new range of investment options. AMP expects to be open to QROPS transfers in the next few weeks.

AMP is the third largest KiwiSaver provider with 12 per cent of the total KiwiSaver market and approximately 240,000 KiwiSaver customers. AMP is a leader in workplace savings with $2.4 billion in its NZRT.

2 The introduction of the AMP Global Multi-Asset Fund provides investors a positive return above inflation and actively responds to changing market conditions with a flexible approach to investing. It gives investors a smoother investment journey.
3 The AMP Income Generator Fund is designed for income focused investors, which specifically targets income-producing assets and pays a monthly distribution, which will be reinvested into units. Members can set up a regular withdrawal from this fund in accordance with the permitted withdrawal rules of the Scheme/Plan. Whilst the AMP Income Generator Fund is well diversified into many types of investments, there is risk of capital loss and should not be compared with lower risk investments, such as bank deposits.
4 The Responsible Investment Balanced Fund provides an option for investors who want to invest in a diversified balanced fund, but also want to ensure environment, social, governance and ethical considerations are taken into account.
