Michael Anderson Named CEO of MediaWorks

MediaWorks has today announced the appointment of Michael Anderson as CEO.

Michael will join MediaWorks on the 29th August from Australia where he is currently Chairman of Oztam and oOH! Media and a non-Executive Director of Fairfax Media.

Prior to his tenure on Boards, Michael spent seven years as CEO of one of Australia's largest commercial radio groups Austereo (now Southern Cross Austereo) and before that as their Group Director, Sales. Under Michael's leadership, Austereo's performance in both revenue and audience grew significantly - in a time of huge change to the industry.

Rod McGeoch, Chairman, MediaWorks said: "On behalf of the Board, I am thrilled to welcome Michael to MediaWorks. This is a pivotal time for the media industry and with many years of high profile media experience - as a CEO, a Board Director and in Sales, Michael brings the perfect credentials to lead MediaWorks through these dynamic times."

Michael Anderson said: "MediaWorks is a company with strong brands and a strong history in New Zealand. With the global disruption in media continuing, this an excellent time to join and lead MediaWorks through a difficult but exciting period."

Michael will also be appointed to the MediaWorks Board.

David Chalmers, who has been Acting CEO since May will be leaving the business later in the year to take on the role of CFO of Spark NZ.

Rod McGeoch added: "David has done a fantastic job leading MediaWorks over the last few months as well as during his time as CFO. Whilst we are very sad to lose him, he leaves us for a fantastic opportunity and on behalf of the Board, we would like to wish him the very best and thank him for everything he has done for MediaWorks."
