Countdown goes cosmic with Star Wars collectibles

Countdown and Lucasfilm join forces to offer Cosmic Collectibles to Star Wars fans of all ages

3 August, 2016: Characters, planets and vehicles from the original Star Wars movies and latest release The Force Awakens have landed in-store and online at Countdown.

From tomorrow, Countdown customers can receive a Star Wars Cosmic Shell with every $20 spent in-store or online at Countdown until 18 September 2016. The Star Wars Cosmic Shells feature characters, planets and vehicles from The Force Awakens and original Star Wars films, divided into the light and dark side.

Eight of the shells play a holographic clip when you download the Countdown Cosmic Shells App on a smartphone and scan the camera icon on the shells. The Star Wars Cosmic Shells collector’s album also includes a game board with instructions designed for the Cosmic Shells.

Countdown’s General Manager Marketing, Bridget Lamont, says Star Wars Cosmic Shells will capture the imaginations of a wide range of customers and predicts this collectible will appeal to the adults just as much as their families.

“The new Star Wars Cosmic Shells offer parents and grandparents a chance to share their love of Star Wars with the next generation of fans. We believe the Cosmic Shells are a must-have for any true Star Wars fan.”

Star Wars is one of the most popular and successful film franchises in history with passionate fans around the globe. Almost 40 years since the first film was released, Star Wars is still loved by fans of all generations. Fans from all over the world recently came together in London to celebrate the 40thanniversary of Star Wars and get the latest news.

Countdown will also host swap-meets at stores in September where shoppers can trade shells to complete their collection.

Supporting merchandise is also available to help bring the movies to life:
• Movie Box $3
• Collectors’ album $8
