Calling all payment technology start-ups

Calling all payment technology start-ups
Auckland, 2 August 2016

Paymark is proud to sponsor the Payments NZ Fintech Innovation Challenge and is calling on all Kiwi start-ups in the area of payments and financial services to enter.

The challenge is being held in November as part of the Payments NZ conference, The Point 2016.

With $5,000 (as well as mentoring and networking opportunities) up for grabs, Paymark wants to hear from any start-up with an interest in the payments or financial services space.

Paymark CEO Mark Rushworth says the fintech sector is fast evolving and New Zealand is well placed to take a lead role in this newly emerging market.

“Paymark has always been interested in the future of digital payments and right from the beginning of our EFTPOS system, New Zealand has played a key part in bringing new technologies to the world stage. The sector is ripe for disruption and we’d like to have a Kiwi company lead the way.”

Fintech is being driven by demand from consumers for better ways to access and manage their money and Rushworth says New Zealanders in particular are eager for new technologies and services.

“We’re looking for New Zealand’s next Xero, Uber, Vend, TradeMe or Pushpay and if that’s you, I’d encourage you to enter.”

Entries are due by 5pm on September 12. Simply fill in the online form (The Fintech Innovation Challenge) and if you’re selected, go through a rapid-fire presentation round against four other competitors.
