New Zealand’s “Most Inspiring Event” Coming to Auckland

New Zealand’s “Most Inspiring Event” Coming to Auckland

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Wednesday 18 August

Auckland will play host to the sixth annual Festival for the Future this September, with delegates confirmed from across New Zealand and around the world.

Labeled “New Zealand’s most inspiring event”, the Festival showcases youth-led innovation and gives young New Zealanders a platform to develop skills and engage in critical conversations about the future.

Delegates include 26-year old Daniel Flynn, CEO of Thankyou, whose leading product range empowers consumers to end extreme poverty, providing more than $4.1 million to clean water and sanitation projects; Springboard Collective CEO and Forbes 30 Under 30 Alejandro Gac-Artigas is transforming education for marginalised youth, and will be joining Festival from the US; and New Zealand singer/songwriter Jamie McDell, who is leveraging her talent and formidable social media following to clean up and care for our coastlines.

The Festival is driven by 2015 Young New Zealander of the Year, Guy Ryan, and the team at Inspiring Stories, operating nationwide with the vision to see every young New Zealander unleash their potential to change the world.

“I’ve been lucky enough to attend and speak at conferences around the world. From an experience perspective, the Festival is world-class. There’s nothing else like it in New Zealand, and this year’s lineup of speakers, workshops and entertainment is exceptional,” says Mr Ryan.

More than 550 people attended the 2015 Festival including delegates from 20 Pacific Nations. Each year, the Festival also welcomes scholarship recipients who come from marginalised and vulnerable communities around New Zealand, with more than 200 scholarships given out since 2011.

16-year-old Anya Bukholt-Payne from Wellington attended last year’s Festival as a scholarship recipient, and said the experience contributed immensely to her personal and professional growth.

“I really can't put into words how Festival has helped me - the skills I learned, the help other participants gave to me and the newfound belief in my own ability has been invaluable.”

The 2016 Festival for the Future is happening 23–25 September at Auckland’s Aotea Centre. More information and tickets are available from www.festivalforthefuture.org.nz.
