Scenic Hotel Group Takes Line Honors

Scenic Hotel Group Takes Line Honors at Tourism Export Council Awards

Christchurch – 18 August 2016. New Zealand owned and operated Scenic Hotel Group is the proud recipient of the 2016 Tourism Export Council’s ‘Operator of the Year Award.’

The award ceremony took place at the Wairakei Resort Taupo last night with the ‘Operator of the Year Award’ being a hotly contested category with the other two finalists being Real Journeys and Southern Discoveries.

Scenic Hotel Group was proudly the only hotel group in the lineup of finalists.

The award was accepted by Scenic Hotel Group Director International Sales and Brand Development, Steve Shearer who commented that “The past year has been one of the busiest and most trying, requiring a herculean effort from our hotels and support teams to maintain our standards and high quality services that guests have become accustomed to.  It is most reassuring to know that our ITO partners value us so highly and consider our group worthy winners of this award.”

This is the second time Scenic Hotel Group has received the much-coveted award, the last being in 2012 for the same category.

When asked what sets Scenic Hotel Group apart from others, Steve responded that the Scenic Hotel Group delivers a uniquely New Zealand experience that is rich in its authenticity and demonstrates the Group’s commitment to New Zealand through a range of initiatives that includes environmental, community and local procurement.

The Scenic Hotel Group is also strongly committed to professional development of its valued hotel teams as well as industry partnerships, which have been forged and nurtured over the past three decades.

In closing, Steve reiterated that the Scenic Hotel Group story is one of friends and family and that this extends to both the community and the industry it operates in.
