TV3 Wins Friday Night Again, the Edge Finds NZ’s Best Best Mate & Paul Henry Continues Strong Performance

TV3’s Friday night line-up once again won the evening for the channel in its target demographic of viewers aged 25-54, and 18-49.

This strong result was led by The Graham Norton Show, Fail Army and 7 Days, all winning their timeslots with 25-54 and 18-49 year olds. The latter completed its victory in all commercial demographics, securing the highest audience amongst Household Shoppers and viewers aged 18-39.

Meanwhile, Vodafone Mates and The Edge have crowned Meg Parfitt, a 19-year-old bartender from Nelson, NZ’s Best Best Mate and the winner of $10,000, after spending seven nights on a barge, anchored in the middle of Auckland Harbour.

Vodafone Mates teamed up with The Edge to find NZ’s Best Best Mate. Meg and her three best friends entered to win an all-expenses paid trip to Beachcomber Island. There was one catch - one of the mates had to stay on a 12m x 4m barge in a five-man dome tent, while their friends partied it up in Fiji - and that friend was Meg. Living on the barge, Meg underwent daily challenges to win amazing experiences for her Fiji-based mates.

On television, Paul Henry continued to deliver strong results, outperforming its competition on Tuesday in 25-54, 18-39, 18-49 and Household Shopper demographics. Across the week and compared to last year, Paul Henry has increased its target audience of 25-54 by 80%, whereas Breakfast has dropped 24%.

And in the digital space, MediaWorks on Friday announced the appointment of David Hine to GM of 3NOW. In this newly created role, David will be responsible for the management of MediaWorks’ 3NOW video on-demand service, including its future strategy and development.
