Leading the way in trucking safety

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
19 August 2016

TR MASTER DRIVE SERVICES LEADING THE WAY IN TRUCKING SAFETY

As we have seen in the news lately there have been a number of incidents involving trucks. Over the last 20 years the number of fatal crashes involving a truck has dropped by about a third according to Transport New Zealand, and around 65% of these incidents that do occur are not the fault of the truck driver.

TR Master Drive Services are passionate about educating and training truckers in the industry in order to reduce the number of truck-related accidents and increase truck efficiency. Recently, TR Master Drive Services in partnership with Gough Transpecs have launched their 2016 Roll Prevention Heavy Vehicle Stability & Control Driver Training Programme.

The programme is designed to teach skills to better handle trucks and specifically to address the causes of roll-overs to reduce the risk for drivers and all road users. “It combines the very best in EBS (electronic brake system) to optimise trailer performance whilst maintaining control and stability under all operating conditions,” says John Hirst, Gough Transpecs’ OE Braking Product Manager.

With the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 recently coming into play, there is more at stake to develop processes and provide training for truck drivers to both identify and avoid incidents in order to minimise the risk of injury – and hopefully save lives.

The TR Master Drive Services programme can assist the directors of logistics businesses to ensure due diligence within their organisations from a health and safety perspective as well as from an environmental viewpoint.

While it may seem from the outset that being an experienced driver would make you more aware of the hazards and less likely to have an accident, it is not always the case. Often people who have been driving for a while get into bad habits, which require attention.

As for all industries, employees can have a significant impact on a company's ability to operate safely and efficiently if they do not have consistent and up-to-date training. Being on top of your game can only take you upwards.
