Symantec Security Response- September Intelligence Report

The Symantec Intelligence Report provides the most up-to-date analysis of cybersecurity threats, trends, and insights concerning malware, spam, and other potentially harmful business risks. Here are the key takeaways from the month of September:

• The RIG toolkit was the most active web attack toolkit

• The Neutrino toolkit decreased 1.9 percentage points to 12 percent of all activity

• The number of new malware variants rose again

• The email malware rate also increased, reaching one in 113 emails

• The global spam rate increased slightly

• The construction sector again had the highest spam rate

• Small businesses with 1-250 employees had the highest spam rate

• The phishing rate increased
