Vodafone commits to 3 day connection of ‘FibreX’ services

Vodafone unveils competitive pricing and commits to three day connection of ‘FibreX’ services in Wellington, Kapiti and Christchurch

Following an investment of $22million to future-proof the FibreX network for customers in parts of Wellington, Kapiti and Christchurch, Vodafone has today announced pricing plans for the services on its Gigabit network with a commitment to connect customers at eligible addresses within three working days, or they will receive a $100 credit.

Vodafone is setting a new standard in connecting kiwis to superfast broadband - customers with an existing cable connection into their home can expect a super quick three working day installation, or they will receive a $100 credit if it’s not installed in that time.

The Vodafone-owned FibreX network is currently connected to a significant number of homes in Wellington, Kapiti and Christchurch. Home owners and residents in these areas can be among the first people in New Zealand to experience the FibreX Max service for $109.99 per month (unlimited data).

Vodafone Consumer Director Matt Williams said the company is thrilled to offer customers great pricing and a no-fuss high speed upgrade.

“With a three day connection or $100 credit offer for intact properties, FibreX customers can be simultaneously streaming and downloading content on multiple devices while their friends manage through a protracted construction and installation process that has plagued other fibre providers.

“Following a customer order, our expert team of Downer engineers will arrive with a new modem and have the intact household connected to FibreX in no time,” added Matt Williams.

Customers can sign up to a naked unlimited data ‘FibreX Max’ gigabit network plan for $109.99 per month on a 24 month term.

Alternatively, customers can opt for a naked unlimited data ‘FibreX 200’ – which offers up to 200Mbps download speeds for $79.99 per month on a 24 month term.

Customers with a Vodafone On Account mobile plan will receive a $10 discount on either FibreX plan.

Vodafone’s FibreX network is built on Huawei’s next-generation DOCSIS 3.1 architecture which has boosted capacity across the network to ensure a consistently excellent online experience for customers.

As of today, 70 per cent of Vodafone’s FibreX footprint has been upgraded with DOCSIS 3.1, with the full upgrade on track to be completed by the end of 2016.

From October 26, customers will be able to find out if they are eligible for a FibreX connection by visiting: http://www.vodafone.co.nz/internet/package-builder/

Notes to editor:

The FibreX Max plan is the fastest connection available on Vodafone’s superfast Gigabit network. But, “Gigabit” describes the network speed capability, and not the actual speed you will experience. Actual user speeds will vary and are affected by various factors including how you’re connected to the internet, the hardware and software used, number of devices connected, time of day, and where the data is downloaded from. In really good conditions, we expect you’ll get download speeds of 700-900 Mbps and upload speeds of 90-95.
