The ultimate sports star partners with the ultimate driving machine

BMW Group New Zealand is today announcing an ambassador partnership with legendary New Zealand athlete Sonny Bill Williams.

As a brand ambassador, Williams will represent the brand at various events which BMW partners such as golf, tennis and motorsport.

“We are very delighted to welcome Sonny as a BMW brand ambassador as part of our New Zealand family”, said Florian Renndorfer, BMW Group New Zealand Managing Director.

“His sporting achievements are second to none, and his reputation internationally both on and off the field represent an incredibly high standard.”

Williams sets a benchmark as an international sports star who has represented a number of sports at the highest level, and will be driving a new BMW X5, a vehicle also setting a benchmark amongst premium SUVs – a model that perfectly embodies the Kiwi lifestyle with its versatility, safety, technology and family-friendly features such as a seven-seat option.

Williams and wife Alana were excited to receive the keys to a BMW X5 today, a new xDrive50i model.

Sonny Bill Williams is not only a skilled and high profile rugby league player, his tenure with the All Blacks has seen him a member of two Rugby World Cup winning teams in 2011 and 2015.

Aside from rugby and rugby league, Williams recently competed at the Rio 2016 Olympics as part of the New Zealand Rugby Sevens team, and has formerly held the New Zealand Professional Boxing Association (NZPBA) Heavyweight Champion and World Boxing Association (WBA) International Heavyweight Champion titles.
