Leading Manawatu businesses celebrated

The 2016 Westpac Manawatu Business Awards were celebrated at a Gala Awards Night dinner at the Silks Lounge, Awapuni Racecourse on Friday evening the 11th November.

380 guests were entertained by comedian MC Jeremy Corbett who took the presenters through the various awards culminating in the presentation of the Westpac Manawatu Supreme Business Award.

The Spirit of the Manawatu Award is given in recognition of those who give back to the local community and this year was awarded to Inspire Net Limited. Central Economic Development Agency (CEDA) Chief Executive, Will Samuel, says for nearly two decades, the Inspire Net team, led by James Watts, have quietly contributed to communities throughout the region.
“James and his team are focused on providing the best service and helping communities and community groups.”

The Lifetime Service Award is given in recognition of significant contribution to the region, in the fields of business and community. This year, Manawatu Standard Editor Jonathon Howe presented the award to Dr Richard Garland.

“Dr Garland is a worthy and much-respected recipient,” says Mr Howe, “he has contributed both in business, through New Zealand Pharmaceuticals Ltd, and the community in general through sports, arts and culture. Our community has benefited from his generosity of spirit and time.”

Having earlier won the Professional Services/Retail Award and the Small Business Award, DCPower were humbled to be awarded the Westpac Manawatu Supreme Business Award. Westpac Area Commercial Manager Manawatu Whanganui, Christine Jones says DCPower is an innovative, leading-edge company. “They are at the forefront of new technology that will help shape our future world. It is a well-deserved win for this quality company that is proud to call Manawatu home.”
