Kathmandu Coast to Coast joins forces with Cube bikes

The Kathmandu Coast to Coast is joining forces with leading German bike brand Cube.

Cube, which has a large presence in Europe with some of the world’s top riders from road, triathlon and mountain biking riding the bikes, is now the official bike sponsor for the Coast to Coast multi-sport event being held in February next year.

It is a highly recognizable and innovative international brand, known for their use of high level componentry, offering great value for money with huge manufacturing capacity, Kathmandu Coast to Coast Director Richard Ussher said.

“I’m very pleased to have Cube as a partner on the Kathmandu Coast to Coast. Their core values fit well with the event. From humble beginnings and without loud marketing campaigns they have quietly built up an enormously loyal following overseas based on good bikes at a good price. It’s fantastic to have them on board and I’m looking forward to seeing the brand grow in New Zealand.”

Cube sponsors Belgian Pro Continental cycling team Wanty-Groupe Gobert which has ridden at the highest levels of the sport amassing an impressive 12 pro victories this year, including Enrico Gasparotto’s win in the iconic European spring classic, the Amstel Gold Race.

The German bike manufacturer also supports leading Swiss triathlete Céline Schärer, the enduro Cube Action mountain biking team, the Cube Global Squad downhill mountain bike team that features leading New Zealand downhill mountain biker Matt Walker and world ranked German Ironman athletes Michael and Andreas Raelert.

Bruce Ireland from Trifour Technics, New Zealand distributors for Cube Bikes believes the partnership with the Kathmandu Coast to Coast will be a great opportunity for the Cube brand. “The Kathmandu Coast to Coast is an iconic event known around the world that has an extremely passionate following. Importantly for Cube, multisport athletes typically ride both road and mountain bikes which gives us a fantastic opportunity to profile the entire range to this discerning market. There is no doubt the event will help us grow the band in New Zealand.”

Renae Morgan from Trident High School is one of three girls from Whakatane who won the Kathmandu Coast to Coast School’s Summit Academy Package, which included receiving a new Cube Attain GTC road bike.

“The new bike is really comfortable and I easily notice the difference from my old bike, having a wide ratio of gears definitely helps on the hills and it rides smoothly,” Renae said. “I’m really enjoying a faster and more comfortable bike for training and can’t wait to race. The generosity of Trifour technics sponsoring the Cube bike, Bobs Bikes fitting me to the bike and Kathmandu, has been overwhelming and I am very grateful.”
