Application to import the herbicide Monument
Fields of Green Media Release
Keeping sports grounds, playing fields and golf courses weed free could get easier if plans to import a liquid turf herbicide are approved.
The EPA is seeking your views on an application to import the herbicide Monument, to be used only by professional turf managers, such as councils, turf growers and groundkeepers at sports fields and golf courses around New Zealand.
Applicant, Syngenta Crop Protection
Limited, is looking to import the product which would be
used to control sedges, grasses and broadleaf weeds,
potentially reducing the frequency of applications, as well
as time spent on herbicide management and exposure for those
handling or applying herbicides as part of their
job.
Monument contains trifloxysulfuron sodium as the
active ingredient and would be applied using ground-based
spray equipment.
Public submissions open on Thursday 24 November 2016 and close at 5pm on Wednesday 1 February 2017.
