Results Announced for the 2016 Fonterra Elections

Returning Officer Warwick Lampp, of electionz.com Ltd, has declared the final results of the 2016 elections for the Fonterra Board of Directors, Directors’ Remuneration Committee, Fonterra Farmer Custodian Trustee and Shareholders’ Council.

Shareholders voted to elect incumbent Director Michael Spaans and new Director Donna Smit. Stuart Nattrass was unsuccessful.

Donna Smit lives and farms at Edgecumbe, and has built and owned seven dairy farms in Eastern Bay of Plenty and Oamaru. Donna is a Director of Ballance Agri Nutrients and Primary ITO, and a Trustee of Taratahi Agricultural Training Centre and Eastern Bay Energy Trust. Donna is a Chartered Accountant and was Company Administrator at Kiwifruit Co-operative EastPack for 24 years.

Shareholders Scott Montgomerie and Gerard Wolvers were elected unopposed to the Directors’ Remuneration Committee. Paul Todd has also been elected unopposed as the Fonterra Farmer Custodian Trustee.

In the Shareholders’ Council elections, the following Shareholders’ Councillors were elected:

Ward 8 – Matamata James Barron

Ward 9 – Western Bay of Plenty Don Hammond

Ward 15 – Taupo Kylie Leonard

Ward 21 – Southern Taranaki Ben Dickie

Ward 24 – Southern Manawatu Robert Ervine

Ward 30 – South Canterbury Michele Pye

All six are new Shareholders’ Councillors.

In the seven other Shareholders’ Council Wards where elections were due, the nominees were elected unopposed. The Councillors in those Wards are:

Ward 2 - Central Northland Susan Rhynd

Ward 6 - Hamilton Ross Wallis

Ward 12 - South Waikato Steve Hines

Ward 18 - Coastal Taranaki Vaughn Brophy

Ward 27 - North Canterbury Shaun Lissington

Ward 28 - Rakaia Jessie Chan-Dorman

Ward 33 - Northern Southland Ivan Lines

Susan Rhynd, Steve Hines and Jessie Chan-Dorman are new Shareholders’ Councillors.

All successful candidates will take office at the close of the Annual Meeting on Thursday, 8 December 2016.
