TV3 Wins Saturday Night, Newshub’s Digital Traffic Sets New Records & the Project’s Presenters Announced

TV3’s Saturday night line-up proved a hit for those winding up their summer break – winning the night for the channel in 25-54 amongst FTA broadcasters.

A combination of Michael J. Fox’s classic Back to the Future II and Steven Spielberg’sJaws II movies proved a stellar success, winning their respective timeslots in 18-39, 18-49 & 25-54.

Wednesday night saw Reese Witherspoon woo audiences across a range of demographics in Legally Blonde 2, winning its timeslot among viewers aged 25-54, 18-49 and Household Shoppers with Kids.

Thursday saw similar success with Newshub Live at 6pm outperforming its competition in all key commercial demographics, drawing higher audience in 25-54, 18-39, 18-49 and Household Shoppers with Kids.

Looking back to 2016, Nielsen figures show Newshub’s performance for November raise the bar for digital growth in New Zealand.

With unique Kiwi visitors growing from 607,000 to 895,000, Newshub.co.nz saw the biggest digital month-on-month audience increase in New Zealand news ever.

Monday saw MediaWorks announce the three key hosts of The Project: Jesse Mulligan, Kanoa Lloyd and Josh Thomson.

Radio New Zealand Afternoon host Jesse Mulligan cut his teeth on 7 Days as a head-writer and a regular guest, brings years of experience working within news organisations, and has also spent time as the New Zealand correspondent for The Project in Australia.
