Final Regional Dairy Industry Awards Finalists Announced

Canterbury/North Otago and Southland/Otago are the final two regions to announce their 2017 New Zealand Dairy Industry Awards finalists.

The awards, which oversee the Share Farmer of the Year, Dairy Manager of the Year and Dairy Trainee of the Year competitions, received 424 entries nationally with 75 entries coming from these regions.

The New Zealand Dairy Industry Awards are supported by national sponsors Westpac, DairyNZ, DeLaval, Ecolab, Federated Farmers, Fonterra Farm Source, Honda Motorcycles, LIC, Meridian Energy, and Ravensdown, along with industry partner Primary ITO.

General Manager Chris Keeping says this time of the year is always a highlight in the awards calendar, with finals judging in full swing.

“This is an interesting time in the awards, with some regions announcing their winners, while some are still in the midst of finals judging,” she said. “To have all regions with the preliminary judging completed is a wonderful achievement, and our focus is now on finals judging and regional Awards dinners.”

Canterbury/North Otago and Southland/Otago winners, placegetters and Merit Award winners will be announced at Regional Awards Dinners. Tickets are still available for these dinners and can be purchased online at www.dairyindustryawards.co.nz.
