Innovative approach to the RBI 2 proposal
Tower leasing company takes an innovative approach to the RBI 2 proposal by providing a level playing field for small regional WISPs.
Aird Towers is pleased to confirm that it has submitted a proposal to Crown Fibre Holdings Ltd for the Expansion of Broadband and Mobile Coverage (RBI 2 and MBS) throughout New Zealand.
The Christchurch and Brisbane based tower leasing company has proposed that the construction of operator agnostic and therefore neutral hosted towers would ensure that all the major mobile operators as well as the many small regional WISP operators would enjoy access to the towers and produce more coverage solutions for end users while also reducing the number and size of mobile coverage blackspots.
Managing Director of Aird Towers, Mr Tom Andrews said "Aird Towers offers a real opportunity for all operators, large and small, to access towers in areas where they are required to provide the vitally needed coverage. By ensuring that the tower deployment is conducted in an operator agnostic way Aird Towers will ensure that the location and size of the towers is suitable for all users, technologies and spectrum. Fair and affordable access to tower infrastructure funded by the RBI 2 and MBS scheme should be a vital part of any solution."
The Expansion of Broadband and Mobile Coverage (RBI 2 and MBS) are initiatives being run by Crown Fibre Holdings Ltd who ran the Request for Proposal tender to provide a range of solutions to provide broadband in regional areas and to reduce the number and size of mobile coverage blackspots.
