NZ’s first ‘all-inclusive’ season pass launched

20 APRIL 2017

NZ’s first ‘all-inclusive’ season pass launched by Canterbury ski field

In a first for the New Zealand ski industry, Porters Ski Area launched its ‘all-inclusive’ Premium Season Pass for the 2017 snow season today (Thursday, 20 April 2017).

Porters Ski Area is the closest ski area to Christchurch – just over an hour’s drive from the airport. Its intended opening day is 23 June 2017.

The Premium Season Pass is designed to let skiers and snowboarders get more snow time by including all the basics needed to get on the mountain more quickly.

“This season, we’re limiting skier numbers to preserve a high quality experience for our guests, on and off the mountain,” said Uli Dinsenbacher, General Manager of Porters Ski Area.

All season pass holders will be guaranteed access to the ski area on the few days when restriction was needed. This means skiers and snowboarders will enjoy uncrowded slopes and shorter queues, with improved access to Porters’ base facilities and car parking.

“Our new all-inclusive season pass offers skiers and snowboarders tremendous value unmatched by any commercial ski area in Australasia,” said Uli.

The all-inclusive Premium Season Pass valued at $899 for an adult includes:

· Daily delicious, hearty lunch options and complimentary all-day snacks with hot beverages including barista coffee

· one complimentary intermediate or advanced private lesson per season

· unlimited group lessons for beginners, or unlimited skill improvement clinics for intermediates and advanced skiers or snowboarders

· complimentary daily ski or snowboard rental

· car parking adjacent to base facilities

· Personal on-mountain equipment storage

· a “no-turn-away” policy on capacity days

· complimentary ski/board wax

· 20% loyalty card for all on-mountain purchases (includes retail and café products)

“Our Premium Season Pass caters for all skiers and snowboarders. Nowhere else can you get unlimited complimentary group lessons for beginners plus a complimentary one-on-one private lesson with a season pass,” said Uli.

“Our goal is to help beginners become accomplished skiers or snowboarders by the end of the season for an affordable price. For intermediate and expert skiers and snowboarders, we offer unlimited skill improvement clinics that are designed to help perfect technique on and off piste.”

In limiting numbers on the few days needed, Porters will use social media alerts to advise when the chairlift-serviced ski area was nearing comfortable skier capacity.

Staff will be stationed at the chain-fitting area to advise if the ski area was still receiving customers.

Existing season pass holders can upgrade to any of Porters’ new season passes, which include two all-inclusive family season pass options. A family season pass (two adults, two children) is priced so one child is free.

“Porters is the only commercial ski area to include a food and hot beverage package as part of its season pass. Whether a family or individual, pass holders will save money by choosing to ski or snowboard at Porters this season,” said Uli.

A Porters’ season Plus Pass valued at $699 is an option for skiers and snowboarders who have their own equipment and have no need for lessons. The Plus Pass includes a season lift pass and a delicious, hearty lunch, all-day snacks and hot drinks including barista coffee and a complimentary ski or board wax.
